  • Cast iron lathe part welded (MIG)

Well today it wasn't snowing and I welded up a cast iron bracket for a guy halfway across the country that was sent to me. I lathe turned a copper plug and welded the casting with Crown Alloys 44-30 cast iron mig wire and my Miller 185 (best machine ever made). Then I removed the plug and she is ready to ship it back...Bob

I may have to get a roll of that stuff. You've talked about it several times for repairs but I've never considered it. I know htp stocks some kind of cast iron wire...same stuff?

Yes and it isn't cheap. I wouldn't weld heavy castings with it but for the small crap I do its great stuff...Bob
