  • Definitely not my welding project!!

I do some work for a local street sweeping company. I went out this afternoon to look at repairing some holes in a Elgin truck hopper when I had to snap a picture of this mess of a blower housing that was being worked on in the shop as I walked by. If you look hard you can see the gaps filled in with RTV.

I think they should have went with RTV all the way...Bob

That job could be saved by a little grinding. :-)

Dont even mess with the gobbly guck when it wears out, drill some holes to find the thicke spot, cut the whole pc. out , roll a new piece and doule the original thickness or roll some AR 400.

these blower housing were originally rubber lined. Makes for some awesome fires that are freaking impossible to put out. Believe it or not, the rubber lasts longer then AR.

Good thing they painted it that's all that is holding it together. Here on the west coast we call those seagull welds, cause it looks like a seagull flew thru and left you a present that needs clean up.
