I have a log splitter, but it resembles a wedged shaped hunk of metal on the end of a wooden stick.

I have seen lots of splitters over the last 38 years. Some were tube and the inside of the tube was the hyd tank. Beam is easier to work with as far as making the sliding push block. But you can use whatever method that's easiest for you...Bob

    log splitter

Want to say hi to everyone. I'm new to the forum. My name is john i live in Norfolk VA. I've been doing a lot of research on building my own log splitter. Came across this forum. And I will say. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. The questions that I would like to ask is. I'm building a 50 ton log splitter. An ibeam 8×w35 will work i believe. But will a 4×4 square tube 1/2 inch thick also work. Or a 6×6×1/2 inch square work. Any ideas will work thank you.
Working...
