  • Roll Out Wheels

We do a lot of stainless pipe, to make the job go quicker and easier we made these roll out wheels.we tack our pipe on center of the wheel run our purge thru the center and weld away. Made these out of stainless because we had the extra material and it looks cool. We do the set up with three so by the time your done with the third root pass the first part is cool enough for the second / cover pass. The little manifold on the table makes it so you don't need to move the purge hose between parts after each weld.

You have to tack weld to that base each time? That's a pretty cool setup. Maybe build a clamping mechanism for it?

Yes, when it's the end of a pipe. If there a flange you can bolt it on. Those plates were bolted up for a different part that was clamped on. The rails that plate is bolted on will fit 1 1/2" flange thru 6" flange easy. That's as big as we go. I just need to mount a motor to it and it would be AWESOME, and cheaper the a rotary positioner.

Clamp on suitable fixtures , then tack weld and later weld

Here we are welding a 3" 90 to a 3" 45. We tacked the 90 to the fixture, just finished the root pass, ready for the cover. With the wheel this weld takes about 4 minutes.
