My place isn't sophisticated but closer to maybe Nascar in technology. I really rarely need machine work, rarely use a drill press even but the whole thing is geared to the type of task at hand. If need something can send my machinist to the neighbors a mile away and use it all for free but I am such a maintenance Mcgyver I usually got it done.
Our whole goal is to clear the place, anything I dont need is gone to other storage and most of the time I process work thru and don't have a backlog in place to walk around.
No one cares to service cars and do some of the jobs we got to do so I take about as much pain out of it as possible, on occasion it is beyond practical but that is often the case with design and build. Its easy to get some regrets and financials always are a factor but I have t the edges really rounded and sanded to reduce all the excuses not to service or PM or fix problems immediately and return it to service and not be a storage for broke stuff.

I will probably need to read the structions. We don't work from benches for hours normally but fly in and out. The other details about human activity are usually ignored but here its all about easy wash up, easy clean up, coffee, take a leak etc. There is a 14x14 door just left of this pic with apron outside or for pull in welding work. In nice weather the big door is open to face the rest of the complex and makes for a natural raceway thru it and another big front door.

The candles were scented of Race Gas and 7024 fumes. Those scents are exempt.

WOW, nice shop, space, tools, doors, what more could a man want, that is really nice, my shop is 5,100' if it was put in rectangular measurements a little larger than 64X80 and I could use more room, Men

If I was going to work on trucks would have went to 100 long. In the end I am glad I did exactly what I did, the layout is near perfect For a real hobby shop would have downsized a pinch to reduce a bit of walking but for me this is ideal and I am a super multi-purpose vise grip kind of guy and I have it all do double duty.
I don't really need more room, if it was longer may have accumulated a few more machine tools but really glad I didn't. I don't need another whole layer of tooling an chips, I can fnd my way around a lathe but it desnt interest me and I have 3 or 4 buds with that including 1 a mile away I can send a guy in a minute if I need som3ething but its really pretty rare as I am a super Mcgyver and have an easier way or stocked part to take care of most of it. I really cant recall doing a machining job in last year. Usually by the time my bud is explain the details I am done and then he says,,, or you could do it like that,,,, ha

At one time I painted a lot,, but my booth space really is a drain area for wet truck and car parking. I am glad I didn't build n a permanent feature or split the place in to r

Did Miller pay someone to design this system? If so,, get your money back, even SFT has a better rig up.

man, you guys and your awesome and huge shops suck. Me and my little 24-ish x 30-something shop feel very inadequate....jerks.

but my shop has a couple a battle axes...

actually they're just props made from aluminum. I've made a bunch of these for people. Some bigger than these, some smaller, some with double heads on them or spikes...If I was more of a picture taker, I'd show those as well. Probably crash the forum though.
