My limited electronics experience tells me that's what resistors do, get hot. It might be normal.

Have another question for yall. On the adjustable resistor R2 in diagram. I was wondering what ohm is needed for this. Right now it's at 11 which is what I measured the old one at. Reason I ask is when I'm welding it gets pretty warm. The rheostat is not getting hot and the wires aren't but the resistor is. It's a 20 ohm resistor as per the parts list. Thanks

Hey thanks man. Heck I had to get it welding so I can build a gas tank for it. My plastic can with a pipe nipple screwed in the bottom isn't really working out for a tank.

I'm not smart enough to post pictures either. It's cool you got an old wore machine and brought it back to life. That's my style brother.

I guess this is the only one I can post for some reason. It says file size to big. Stands to reason I guess it is a Big 40. I'll take more of welder and try again

They upgraded the system so some stuff is a bit odd... try this...

I looked at the 1973 schematic and I saw that one only has 3 brushes on the rear of the rotor. Where as mine as two in the rear and two about midway. I've looked all over Internet and the only thing I can come up with is. Early 70's.

My guess i that the 1973 schematic is darned close if not identical to the 1969

    See page 15 Figure 11-1
