YMBAWI- your wife keeps asking what happened to her alo-vera plant. YMBAWI- the inside glass on your shop door is rusting due to weld/grind splatter YMBAWI-your wife asks you why her new coffee cup is bumpy and rusting YMBAWI- you first A+ in school was in welding shop (true story) YMBAWI- the guy who has a private air strip across the road knows when your welding.(HF in a tin bldg.-a no-no near a airport) YMBAWI-the flash from your welding trips the photo cell switch on the security light. YMBAWI- the inside of your wifes washing machine is rusted. YMBAWI- the guy at the red-wing boot store says you have gone thru three lifetimes worth of free replacement shoe-strings. YMBAWI- the elec. bill for your shop is higher than your all elec. house.

YMBAWI all of your socks have at least one very sharp little sliver in them from when you use a rotary file on steel.

OK, I'll contribute a little, I'm a heavy duty diesel tech that's welds too (just to explain a bit, LOL).

    YMBAWI..

...If something comes in the shop broken and the boss comes in asking "where's the genius"

...If you get a woody when something comes in broken

...If you've ever finished someones metal project because you watched them try to weld it and couldn't stand to let them finish, LOL

    YMBAW if...........

YMBAW if every time you see a 220 volt outlet ANYWHERE, you wind up looking to see how many amps and then wonder if it will carry a welder!

Makes me think about how ****ed many styles of 220 plugs there are....gotta be a hundred!

    you are a true welder.
when the patterns on your arms and back that were made by the blobs of hot spatter and metal that got past the leather start to resemble tatoos without the colour.

when you reach my age and the grey hair is more like sun bleached white and happens to starts where your helmet finishes.

when you buy a toy welding set for your childs first birthday ( wife was not happy) then a toy grinder for there second. ( then the wife reminds you there a girl) so what!

when the wife realises the 125cc tot-rod you are building is for your sons second birthday ( she is NOT happy)

    more than just hobby

You might be a welder if you recieve holiday greeting cards from the steel supplier and welding is just one of your hobbies, not your real job. Thats beside all the counter people knowing your name.
