Ok gents, reaching out for some suggestions and advise. Got a job to do either today or tomorrow for my aunt. She's a sweet old gal and in love with this candle stick that she believes is sterling silver, but it's clearly not. I think it's chromed brass. Anyway, figured someone has had one of these types of jobs slide into the shop at some time. I told her that no matter what I do it's gonna mess up the finish in that area. So, any advise? TIG braze, solder, weld? The last picture is of a spot I took the sander too.

For the type of service it is likely to see just epoxy it.

If you are not going to rechrome it then epoxy is the way to go.

I had a similar job a few years ago and used the lowest low-temp silver solder I could find. I used one of those little micro-butane-torches (think a cigarette lighter on steroids). The torch has a really small flame, which meant I could tightly control where the heat was. If I get another one, I'd use it as an excuse to buy a resistance soldering setup (Rule 1: Never pass up an excuse to get a new tool :-)

            I completely agree Frank.

Thanks for the ideas gents. I ended using a jeweler's torch (an itty bitty oxy-propane job) and some easy silver solder. Worked like a champ.
