your right about nuthing to lose. if it works it works if not then oh well alteast you tried plus it still has lots of life left in it as a pry bar.

did you heat treat it after? if not the welded part is gonna be softer than the original piece and will just round off.

I was hoping that the weld would pick up some carbon from the parent metal and the rapid cooling due to the mass of the bar would harden it a little. Time will tell if it is hard enough to keep its edge. The bottom line is that I had nothing to loose because it wouldn't work at all with the chunk missing.

The last time I used my crow bar I pulled a chunk out of the jaw of the crow bar instead of pulling out the nail. It is an ancient crow bar that was my dad's so it has sentimental value. Attached is my repair.
