Just picked this up Friday got the outriggers also.Need to build a mounting platform off my deck.Will post more pics as we progress.Gonna be awhile as I,m slamed with work right now.

Congradulations on the crane, You wont be sorry.

The only bad thing about your crane is that its 100' to short.

Give me some crane specs:

Make

Capacity.

Boom length

Is it telescoping

Is it full hydraulic or electric over hydraulic

As far as out riggers, The bull dog 4" square tube have worked for me.

You may need to add a leaf on which ever side you put the crane on.

Specs.

It,s Ekegard/Dakota 6000lb.pto driven.12' closed,hydraulic out to 16' and a 2'manual pull section.Got the hydraulic up and down out riggers with it manual pull out.I as thinking of adding a bigger stack of helpers on both sides of the rear.Gonna have a buddy/bodyman of mine respray it black before I mount it.

Depends on the chassis but normally only crane side recieves the helper spring. Also crane normally goes on the passenger side if your curious.

P-side that is where mine was going.So you think I,ll only need helpers on that side?Or should doing both sides in rear better?It,s goin on my 04-F-550

F550 chassis have a lot of options. Might not need any springs. Also depends on the box on the truck. Normally only do the crane side. Also u will need to set the engine rpm to 1100 to 1400. Do u know the pto speed the pump needs? I have never seen that make. Hopefully it came with hydraulic outriggers. If not add them manual one suck.

The outriggers are hydraulic up and down.But manual pull out.My 550 has the low deflection kit from the factory I specd it that way.

When I bought my truck new it was just a cab and chassis so I had to put springs on it for that, on the driver side I have 11 leafs on the main and a helper pack which is 3.

On the passenger - crane side I have 12 leafs on the main and a 3 pack on the helpers.

Best of luck on the crane, Its a pain in the butt to build the hydraulic tank, all the piping, hoses and the PTO pump etc.
But its all worth it when you get to use it.

I have certain customers that hire me verses my competition just because I have the crane and they dont because I can move the heavy plates of parts around that have to be welded.

So even though I dont get paid for the crane directly, I get the jobs because I do have the crane.

Going to buy a hydraulic tank but have to do all the piping.How many gallon tank do you have portable?I,m thinking I need a 25gal.?

This is what we got done so far.Also got the plateform welded to deck plate will take a pic tomorrow before I mount crane and after.This is a couple of pics of it all painted

Admweld, I dont remember how many gallons but the tank I built measures 48" x
8" x 16" which is 3.55 cu ft. There are 7.48 gallons per cu ft which comes out to
26.55 gallons.

My tank is about 3/4 full.

My guess would be that I put 20 gallons in and have never had a problem.

Portable I like that design I think that may work for fitting behind my underbody boxes along the frame rail.What gauge did you use I,m thinking 12 ga. should be fine also did you use hot roled or cold rolled to fab your tank,does it matter?

AdmWelding, I used 12 ga. P&O, It doesnt give you mill scale on the inside after welding which can flake off.

The nice thing about all hydraulic verses electric over hydraulic is you can run it all day without having battery issues.

I was thinking cold rolled for the same reason mill scale coming off inside the tank.You think cold rolled 12 ga. is fine?Or do I need to use p+o, the reason I ask is I don,t now if it readily available from supplier.
