I've run a *red* PrecisionTIG 185 off of both a 225 and a 250 for AC-GTAW of aluminum. The only problem I had was blowing the circuit (fuse) when dialing in AC above 130 Amps for extended periods of time. The new 225's are supposed to be outstanding and apparently don't have that problem anymore.

If there is a way you can come up with cash for a Trailblazer 302 I would highly suggest it. I have been using mine with an HF box and it is really close to the syncro-250. I was very impressed at how well this setup worked for thin aluminum. I would also like to congratulate Miller on building a super tough plasma cutter. I set my 650 on top of my tool box on the back of my rig tonight and fired up my compressor. A few minutes later my cutter was on the ground upside down. A victim of vibration, I won't let that happen again. Anyways, I hooked the air back up and kept on cutting. It seems to be fine an did not even get a dent in it. I got lucky. Adam

I too chose the Trailblazer over the Bobcat especially for this reason, it has served me well so far, not that much more money for the Trailblazer. I have been running a HF box off mine, DC and AC TIG, a little SMAW but, no MIG I don't have any complaints so far. That said I got a buddy that has his HF box on his Bobcat for aluminum it works but not as good as he would like.

I made my ENTIRE living for many years off of a Bobcat 225 NT and a OLD Linde Freekbox. It would have been better to have had a HF 251 with a gas valve and a contacter but money was tight then. Just use a gas valve and learn how to weld a whole new way. The arc will not jump without the argon valve turned on.
I would reccommend getting a Dynasty 200 DX and a Bobcat or a Trailblazer before a freekbox. In fact the cost of a Bobcat and a Dynasty may be very close to the cost of a Trailblazer and a HF-251-D. But the Bobcat and Dynasty combo would do more aluminum situations because the Dynasty can go anywhere with it's multi-voltage ability. Just my opinion YMMV

            I must concur with FusionKing. A new Bobcat225 + Dynasty 200SD will cost around $5400, A new Trailblazer302 + HF-251D-1 + secondary contactor will cost around $5000. For the extra $400, I'd definitely take the Bobcat/Dynasty combo.
