I have a balcony railing in Old San Juan that was made out of galvanized 1 x 2 and cast iron ornaments, the owner wants it in aluminum now because of rust problems due to the proximity to the sea. I got the ornaments in aluminum and also the tubing. Now here is the question. What would be the best filler rod for the job? Tubing 6063 and ornaments cast aluminum.

Depends,
What alloy is the casting made of?
4043 (S43 for the old timers) is a generic filler alloy used on castings...BUT...its not ideal for all cast alloys. Especially in saltwater conditions. Let us know the casting alloy and we can go from there.
