Gee that dump truck repair looks like my old dump truck. That guy must have gotten around. After i bought it and looked at it I wondered what I was thinking. Glad that Rocky took time out to come up here and show me how to go about fixing it. Thanks again Rocky.

My welding teacher told me if was going to weld like pigeon shyth at least do it in a place no one will ever see. My dad was famous for giving my crap "when you gonna let me weld something dad? When your welds don't look like chewing gum!!! Circa 1987.

i been TIGing up some thin SS artsy fartsy stuff lately and if my TIG beads don't improve soon i think i'll be posting them here.
with a lil more playing around i hope to get them back on track, cant seem to trace down my problem????

You guys are just getting TOO picky!!! AND probably wrong!!! Those first pics of the guy that has 20+ years welding experience, just goes to show you, it wasn't his fault, it's the machines fault!!! GET IT STRAIGHT!!!!
Sorry, just had to say something! Those were so rediculous, I'd be enbarresed ti show them to anybody, but I guess the guy thought they would pass Dave's inspection! yeesh....
Dave, How the heck did you repair that tailgate? Got any pics after it was done?

James, show us some pics of your ss welds and all the info for the settings you have, thickness of the ss, type tunsten and so on....

O.K. Here's picture from another forum that I'm a member of. This guy built a trailer and was showing it off on another forum, bad part is that he had asked all sorts of questions and myself and a number of other knowledgeable people told him the correct way of doing things and this is the best he could come up with. This probably never made it off of his property but it may also be cruising down the streets as we speak.

I can't take credit for seeing these first hand, these were posted by someone on another forum and I can't recall who to give credit to, but here is a truck that was seen out on the open trails with a mighty fine job done on the roll bars.

and as for the trailer he made a super light heavy duty trailer

as long as the trailer is towed by his Bigwheel and no more than 3 sheets of styrofoam at a time he will be fine!
I think I'll try to make a trailer out of aluminium foil (2 sheets thick for strength.

I must admit I was in a bind once and welded a crescent wrench to the frame of my 71 240Z to get it home (was like welding 1/2 inch plate to a soda can and I had glasses not a hood on so I looked like a sad raccoon )

Good thing he had his finger pointing to the bad weld or I would have never picked it out.
I like the big pipe over little pipe and glue-gun method rather than making those pesky angle and fishmouth cuts.

My wife's friend asked me to give a quote on some railing at her church. Went up a couple of weeks ago to look at it, railing was embedded in 4" or 5" of a concrete ramp (3 levels going zig zag, floating but column on the ends). Some of the posts were rusting through the edge of the concrete, some were exposed. I had no idea where the rebar was inside the concrete. If I made new holes and hit rebar, sacrificed the integrity of the concrete, nahhh...I passed on that job.
