I finally broke down and bought a bender. 100% of the materials for the stand were scrap I had picked up.

What stops it from spinning on the floor? I have a bender I made (in the project gallery) mounted to a 4x4 ft table with 3/8 steel top, 4 3"sq legs x 3/8" wall, with a shelf 10" off floor same size as table, a 6" vise mounted, a 30"' shear/brake/roll plus other heavy stuff and until I bolted it to the floor it would move on heavy bends. This table must weigh at least 400 lbs without the tools on it.

Unless you're planning to do larger work also............
I have a 1 man Earthquake turning a 8" auger. It has a two stroke engine which starts easily, is lightweight, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I think Home Depot has them. I like mine. Check them out. They also have larger Earthquake models also.

Looks good. I also was wondering about it moving and also how you got the plate welded solid to the brake drum. We tried doing that at work for a stand we built and finally gave up and bolted it to the drum cause we couldn't get a solid bead on it. Just wonderin if there is some special technique to it. Otherwise, nice bender and stand and be sure to show us what you make with it!

I haven't used it yet. However, if I have a problem with it moving, I plan to overbore holes in the floor and cement 1/2" nipples in them. Then weld ears made of angle onto the base and secure the whole shootin' match with cinch pins. Thats what I be thinkin'.

I will shoot some pics of my beads tomorrow. I welded the plate to the brake drum with my Maxstar 150STL, DCEP, 1/8" 6010 5P+, ~95A.

You are correct, James. One is a Maxstar 150STL and the other is a Spec 375-Xtreme.

Not much of a welding project but a project just the same.

I was having difficulties getting some of the heavier pieces of scrap metal out of the bin at the scrap yard. The bin was made up from an old tanker trailer cut in half. I struggled for about an hour the last time trying to get a piece out of there that I was interested in that weighed 150 lbs.

I had a cheap winch at home that i decided to fasten to my trailer hitch in case I ever needed a little help over at the scrap yard again. I rigged up the power to the trailer plug-in. I then decided latter on to see if i could fasten my contraption to my shop ceiling to use it there when not in use on the pick up. This is what I came up with.

That is a winch and not a hoist.....................be careful when it is carrying
                            weight............it was not designed to.

You're absolutely right, in no way will I be using this for anything heavy and whatever I will be lifting, I won't be laying under it that's for sure.

                              Thanks for the advice
