  • Bobcat muffler

Great forum, great advice and no bickering, thanks. Anyway I am new to welding and recently got my dad's old Bobcat 225G Plus. The muffler is shot and priced one today at $152.00 from Airgas. The engine is an Onan P216, I was reading on here where someone had adapted an auto muffler to fit a Bobcat and was wanting to know the details and if possible any pics. Thanks in advance for the help.

Price that sucker elsewhere. IIRC, the Miller price on that sucker is around 50-60 bucks. I priced one about two years ago and I know they didn't go up that much. I have been told Cyberweld can get lots of Miller parts..try them and tell Airgas where they can go.

Make your own. I made one awhile back for an Onan on a old AEAD200, but could not find any pictures of it. Here is one I made for a kohler in a small Bobcat skidder. I used 6" truck exhaust pipe and the elbows from the engine into it are 1" EMT or electrical conduit, easy to bend with conduit bender or just by sweeps. I braced it off to the block so the it doesn't vibrate. This muffler is probably 4-5 yrs old now. so far so good.

Tahnks for the reply. I did find one at a local small engine shop, the guy makes them himself per order. Only $58 out the door.

I agree with DDA52. I purchase lots of welding supplies for work and AirGas is usually much higher. Much like John Deere, if it's painted green add $100.00. I would search Onan engine vendors or small engine service centers. That muffler might not be specific to the 225G+.

BTW; I have a 225G+ and I know what color the paint is.(so proud)

          Good Luck

Bad news for ya...no one will have the right muffler, but Miller. It is a captive part. They will have the Onan muffler, but it will not fit under the Miller cowling. The Onan muffler is longer and taller than the Miller. Unless you want to do a ton of mods and spend hours trying to get the bends right, just get the Miller muffler from anyone but Airgas.
