This is a cast alum front grille from a 1940's or so bumper car from an amusement park. It was "fixed" years ago with some screws and sheetmetal. I will remove the sheetmetal and screws, vee everything out, straighten where needed and fill it with my 3035 spoolgun with 4043 wire. The holes will be welded shut and everything sanded flush. But i can't do it today so tomorrow i will have some finished pics...Bob

Bob,
Well Done !
Seems that you practice a dying art.
That is to do a good job and do it correctly without taking shortcuts.
Today most jobs of this type would be pop rivets and bondo.
Denny, you are also also in this league.
Am I the only one lamenting the loss of craftmanship and pride in a job?
There is a television show showcasing a restoration company which rebuilds/restores old vintage items similar to this.
If the quality of work wasn't so bad today, maybe this show wouldn't exist.
Please continue your work gentlemen.Miller Dynasty 350, Dynasty 210 DX, Hypertherm 1000, Thermal Arc GTSW400, Airco Heliwelder II, oxy-fuel setup, metal cutting bandsaw, air compressor, drill press, large first aid kit, etc.

Thank You. I love the TV show. I tested the metal tonight (what i should have done first) and its not alum or magnesium so it must be good ole pot metal zinc based. So tomorrow i will grab my torch and use Crown Alloys Royal KirkRod on it. I had to wait for the owner to call back to see if he was going to leave this part natural looking or paint it. He said he is painting it. But i bet it will look good enough to clear coat...BobBob Wright

What TV show is that? I'm rather TV retarded, I probably only get to watch 2 hours of TV per month. Bad thing though is I still haven't had time to touch any of my projects that I've been wanting to do for years now.

All of these new fangled electronic toys I don't know how to work. I have a dvd recorder but haven't a clue how to use it, it just happened to be included with the DVD/VCR combo I bought on sale. For that matter I can't figure out how to record on the VCR either. I will have to try to check the show out sometime sounds interesting.Blondie (Owner C & S Automotive)
