Split pipe would make a good strake.

You could add some exterior strakes to the bottom and sides (above the waterline).

The strakes would "stiffen" things up without adding a lot more weight.

The "mass produced" jon boats use much thinner material than you did, but gain rigidity with the strakes.

I have three water strakes running along the bottom and i am planing this spring to run them along the sides like you suggested, there is abit of play in the bow when heading into a wave. I am debating what to use i am thinking of cutting a pipe in half and running it along the sides what do you think?

You are correct there is alot of very fun toys to play with but sadly they are my father in-laws. lets just say i spend alot of time there lol.

Tell us all the specs....like material thickness and type. And what machine you used etc...
Also what stencil was you using for the camo.

I made it out of 1/8 4043 aluminum and i used a Dynasty 200 to weld it up. As far as the paint i got a hand full of bullrushes and used them it could have turned out better but it was a learning curve

Having said that i would defiantly make it out of heavier material next time just for warpage purposes
