I welded up a set of camper tie downs for my pick-up, 2X2X1/4 tube butted to a 3/8 plate with my old mans MM185, it worked ok but a little more penatration may have been nice, never hade a problem with the duty cycle but the MM180 dosn't have the same specs. all the aluminum i'm doing right now is fixing expanded srceen to 1/8 tube on our Heli-Ski baskets so its pretty light work, most of what i do is steel(repair to trailers, quads, decks), I just dont want to get something to light right off the start.
Thanks again for the input.
PS how do you get the list of equipment on the bottom of your post.
This is all new to me.
yes the HH210 is hobart. from all i have heard its a great option for good power in a small package at a great $$. still larger than the passport but if its for mostly shop work or $$ is tight it may well fit the bill. its about the size of the MM180. just a lil more power and spoolgun ready i think, dont hold me to that, but i know it will take a spool gun. just not shore all the ins and outs to it.
it has gotten good reviews though.
Thanks fun4now & sberry any input is always helpful,
I don"t know anything about migs as I'm just a back yard bud mechanic.
I fab small projects like my sled deck and a few two place trialers.
I was hoping to get some input from those of you that may have similer type machines.
Who makes the HH210 is that hobart? all i have for info is what i can find on this computer, and as i said i'm just a mechnic so thats not much, my kid knows more about this thing than me.
as i understand it the new passport + dose an excellent job on aluminum. much cheaper to ship also. shipping difference might make the $ difference but i don't know for shore. just some thing to maybe look into.
welcome aboard.
I have been welding for about 20 years and just recently started using migs.
I've used a small 110 type, and the MM185, I'm looking for something about the same as the 185, I don't glue much thicker tha 3/8 steel and would like the option to put a spool gun on as I weld some aluminum. I looked at the MM212 but there are only 3 in all of western canada and getting it shipped may be a bit of a hassel.
Any input would be helpful.
