Informal Introduction

Hello All,

I have been lurking around here for quite some time, pulling all sorts of ideas and getting a lot of questions answered before I even asked. Thanks to all of you for that.

I am an engineer by trade and education. I have been working in the aviation MRO (Maintence, Repair, Overhaul) industry for about 5 years now. I get to see a lot of different processes and repairs in our shop.

I have been welding (hobby) for about 3-4 years now regularly. I own a Miller AEAD 200LE engine driven weldor / generator and various grinders and shop tools. I have had only a small ag welding course, but have learned quite a bit from various folks, both here and at work. Most of the stuff I dabble in is shop equipment and various odds and ends as needed. I also come up with ideas of things that would be useful at my ranch house.

My wife often thinks I am crazy but I must admit, working to live is much better then living to work. If it wasn't for my shop and many different projects at home, I would be living to work (for my job). It often becomes very demanding and time consuming, so getting out in the shop sure does help to relieve the stresses...

Welcome. I think everyone here is involved in MRO in one way or another. There is always stuff needin fixin...Bob

True, there is. We work on the T-56 engines. They are the mostly from the c-130 fleet, however we do get on occasion some from the P-3 fleet.

It is actually quite an experience working here seing all of the different types of repairs that are done, sometimes often amazing to see what some of the really skilled guys can do.
