Nice looking job.
I did a similar thing with HR angle that I used for a table. I mitered the corners and the top sits down inside. The rest of the base was wrought iron with one inch square twisted legs and scrolls down to the legs. The visible parts of the angle were textured with a grinder, wire brushed and covered with automotive clear coat.Bill
