has anyone had success in welding ' RECORD VICES" I TRIED PREHEAT, 7018 AND XC PLUS. BUT THE WELD KEEPS SEPERATING FROM PARENT METAL AT MINIMAL CLAMPING PRESSURE.Please advise

If you have a Northern tool close by they have small packs of Ni rod...don't use the non machinable type..... you can get a box of about 4/6 rods for less than $10.00.... I tried to repair a vise as well using pre and post heat ,7018 and capping it with 8018.... held up well,but after getting some good advice from some more knowledgeable guys I took my 10 lbs. sledge to it.... the welds held on and the rest shattered to ****.
