Feelings on remanufactured/refurbished welders

I found a great deal on my dream machine, the dynasty 350, but its a remanufactured unit from a miller rep with warranty. i was wondering how many people have had purchased reman units and had good luck with them and if anyone had any horrible experiances.

I never purchased a remanufactured welder but I did with other products. Most times if you ask them what was replaced or repaired, they will tell you. It could be a scratched cover or a broken switch to a disconnected wire inside. A person will buy it, not like it for some reason and bring it back, then it has to be cleaned up and resold as remanufactured.

Also check the price to see if it is worth it. Most times you get the same warranty as new so I would go for it. Just my opinion.

thanks for the reply Kbar, the guy wants 3850 for it (machine only) so i feel like its too good to let go. i think it still has either a 1 or 2 year warranty left.

I have a 625 plasma that was re-furb'ed and it is fine. I have always felt that a factory re-do goes through more of a test cycle at the end of the repair than a new machine sees before it is packed up. My past dealings with Miller's service tells me that they will keep you happy if the machine does act up on you. Good Luck, JEFF
P.S. I have been around the other Miller forum for a long time and have never seen a problem with refurbished machines come up over there.

You should be shot if you don't go for it at that price (assuming there arn't any major issuse)! You can't even find a used 300 thats been run hard for that price!

Well for the welder absolutely! But as far as being shot? That may be a tad harsh. Perhaps a gang slapping would be more appropriate?

Go easy on him, just stick him in a locked room for a day with a ton of metal, a Miller Dimension 1000 but no wire or sticks.

haha... being shot, thanks guys...that was pretty much what i was thinking, almost too good to be true. im just waiting for pictures of the welder now to make sure all is good. the guy seems to be pretty well known...but i dont dare say where im getting it from for fear of somebody grabbin it out from under me

i just got the pictures of the welder and the thing looks brand new, i guess on startup it says it has 1hr 17 minutes and 30 arc strikes on it. does this mean 1hr 17 min continuous welding or the machine has just been on for that time. either way im friggin pumped this is gonna be the first welder i've ever owned
