    them ramps sure are beafy but do you think with that much of and angle thet the truck or car won't bottom out when you get it to the top of the rmps..we had some bottoming out problems with my 16'double axle trailer and the ramps wasn't on that much of and incline.

    Awesome job. Glad this was bumped up so I can see it. What a trailer and 4x4.

    Would be a good idea to weld some caps on the ends of the square tubes to keep water from rusting them out, especially in front and back of the tires.

    I know this is a old thread but build job looks great I was wondering how strong these trailers are. I am looking at a 30' that I am going to add a 4' dovetail on and use it as a 2 car car trailer. I am going to use square tubing on the sides and the center bracing like you did. It looks like your main I beams are smaller than what I am looking at the one I am trying to buy has 8" I beam.

    Z71 is a 1997, and was delivered to its new owner yesterday. It was a great truck, especially considering how I abused it. But at 13 years old and 170,000 miles, it was time to let it finish out its life a little more leisurely. Here's the new tow rig.

    The crossbars that bear no load are 2 x 2 x 1/8. The crossbars that bear load (tie town hooks) and the back section are 2 x 2 x 1/4. The outriggers 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 1/8. I have seen no deflection or issues with any of it. I probably have 10,000 miles on the trailer now, and I'm still 100% thrilled with it. I'm taking it nearly across the whole country this summer - Jackson, Michigan to Moab, Utah. It will have the truck pictured below on it, as well as my quad sideways across the front.

    Still need to get some fenders made, but can't seem to find the time lately.

    I know this is an old thread, but this came up when I googled home built trailers. I must say nice trailer and Rig. I am about to start a similar project myself and I would like to know what size tubing you used when you replaced the cross bars and outriggers on your trailer.

    I built the bumper first out of 1/4" foam board. Then out of 1/4" plywood. Then set up some stops as datums to measure from. Then I measured X,Y,Z at each intersection and drew it in solidworks.

    The mounts on the frame are all custom. My frame is extended 4" to hold the leaf springs. Its held on with 4 bolts - 2 upper, 2 lower. The lowers thread through the bumper into the frame. The uppers bolt through a piece of 2x2x1/4.

    The grille and lights are stock for a GMC Sonoma. My truck is actually a S10, but I swapped out the grille and lights for the GMC variety, as I like them much better than the little square sealed beams of that era.

    Fender flares are custom too. They are cutout flares that make room for larger tires.

    holy cr*p. you did really well on the bumpers.

    how did you go about defining the XY coordinates ??? of the mounting holes on the frame with the contouring shape of your S10's grill and lights ? you really got a nice fit. i like how the fender flares terminate into the bumper.
