  • tests for a band saw weld

hi everyone i am from Peru (I hope you understand my english):
I need help in this problem. Does anybody know wich tests (I mean working with a code) I have to do to in a weld on a band saw? the reason I have troubles is the thickness (1 or 1.2 mm) I don't know how I can certificate my work I supose that I have to make a bending test and a traccion test but I need the measures for the cuppons and some values for comparison.

Thanks for the help and greetings from Peru

Hello Characato and welcome to the board. I cant help you out with these questions. I never messed with testing or certification myself. You will find the answers you need though. There are a lot of great guys here to help you out.

As far as your english, you type it, speak it better than a lot of people that lived here all their life

The only thing i know for sure is the blade goes around and cuts at least 1,000 pcs of metal before it breaks. Then its a good weld...Bob

Why do you need it certified in the first place? Is there any specific code your trying to meet? Is it for a production or repair situation? Are you welding Bi-metal blades or somthing else?

I need it certified or test the weld and compare the results with some value because it is for a paper for the university, I`ve been looking for some information but I have only found a book that tells me the way to make the weld but nothing else maybe with the chemical composition of the base material you guys could suggest some code or some values

composition base mmetal 1--------base metal 2
                  -------------------- NICKEL STEEL%------NICKEL - CHROMIUM STEEL%
                  Carbon---------------0.67---------------------- 0.80
                  Silicon----------------0.20-----------------------0.33
                  Manganese-----------0.20- ---------------------0.38
                  Níckel----------------0.20-----------------------0.50
                  Chromium ------------0.05-----------------------0.10
                  Vanadium------------0.02-----------------------0.02
( There are only 2 kinds of bands saw here in Peru)

                  thanks for the help.
maybe there are some mistakes in the writting but I hope you understand that English is not my native language and Who is Bob???
