  • Mig Welding Stainless Steel 304

I am wanting to build a BBQ Island and I am looking to make doors, sink, cooler, and a counter. I have a Millermatic175 and want to know the consumables and techniques for welding it. I have been using the welder for my AutoX car mostly and now want to venture out for this additional task.

Any tips, tools, or techniques would be great.

I would design your parts for the smallest bead you need to run to keep the warpage down. Max dia wire would be .030 Also get some tri mix for the gas because you want it perfect for a long time. Don't mix a sanding disc that was used for carbon steel because the particles will show up on the SS and it will rust. Try to bend the SS metal for strength. I bought a cheapie 200 brake at my local farm store and it would be great for thin SS panels....Bob
