Well, I thank you but I didn't win the grand prize ( little itty bitty smoker lol) but I did win some book. I knew I wouldn't win. Who would pick a smoker as a winner when the sponsor makes commercial smokers. lol It was fun though.

Hydro, PM me your email and I will send you a spreadsheet to calculate this.

excellent build. I've got a tank hiding behind my shed waiting for me to do the same thing.

Here is an inside view of the damper opening between the firebox and the horizontal tank.

The Vert-damp picture is the other one. I don't seem to have one with the linkage on the damper from the rod over to damper to open and close the damper.

I know I'd be interested in see more especially your damper systems. I think one of the things I need to redo on mine is the stacks. I have a 24" dia. smoker too and the stack is 3" id and I may not have made the stack long enough either.

And there really is nothing wrong with hunting for votes either.

Hmm, you do know that Hobart also has a discussion group also. And then there is Shop Floor Talk, Tool Box Talk and others.
Yeah I hesitated to do it but I couldn't stand a taco beating me on votes. Don't matter it seems several folks are email bombing their own project.

Very nice write up Purple. If I had found a how to like that before I started building smokers, I could have saved many dollars in Advil.

    Nice work on the cooker.

Yeah don't sweat it OSU. I'm going to use a small part of my financial aid to get a new welder. I've got several hundred things to do here at the farm and I have a bunch of folks wanting different stuff made or fixed here and there. The nice thing is I'll have some extra cash finally again since my old inherited welder gave up the magic smoke.
