If I run a bead with stick and let the slag cool, and then run another pass directly over that without chipping, does the slag from the previous weld get incorporated into the weld, weakening it?

yep, ya gotta chip it first. if you are fast about it you can change out rod's without having to chip first as i was told, but for a 2nd pass ya gotta chip first.thanks for the help
