cleaning glue off a 12" sander

I had to change the disc on my 12" bench sander and what a hard time I had getting the old glue off. Had to end up removing the aluminum wheel and putting it flat on a table. I tried everything and ended up using brakleen and a razor blade scraper. Anybody every use any other chemicals to take the glue off? I tried alcohol, wd-40, 2+2 etc, but the brakleen worked the best and not very good at that

I use GOO GONE to clean up my 12" disc. Spray it on and let it sit a few minutes then it comes right off with a razor blade...Bob

WD-40 may not be good for penetrating stuck bolts or lubricating guns, but it works good at removing sticky glue residues. Spray it on and let it set for a minute or two and then wipe it off. Try it!

i use m.e.k. to remove all kinds of funky. it works well on dried paint too. can be found at paint stores and home box stores(home depot...etc..)

cleaning glue off a 12" sander "Hey I know"

I know what works well.Contact cement remover,or Fabric softener,or Finger nail polish remover.Tried and test by me of course.

Laquer thinner, it is a combination of Acetone, Toluene, and MEK,& Xylene it will do a better job of dissolving the glue than the other products mentioned, which are mainly mineral spirits. For mild glue disolves, like stickers, they are great as they are not so aggresive, but the the tuff stuff, go with the Laquer thinner. here is a material data sheet, Paul
