Congratulations. I know you'll like it when you get it. When you get your welder don't be intimidated by all the parameters you can change like dig control, post gas time, pulse rate, background current, etc. Miller pretty well has it all perfectly dialed in with the default settings. Just plug it up and start welding.
I was a little dissapointed with mine when I stick welded with it though. With the dig control, no matter how hard I tried I could not get the rod to stick to the work. Now that takes a lot of fun out of it. I still have some work to do. That stack of dimes every body looks for when they weld, well, I get a few dimes, a couple of nickels and then a 50 cent piece. But that isn't the Syncro's fault

lol...I was curious..What does the dig control actually do?
As I understand it, Dig provides additonal short circuit amperage at low voltages to prevent the electrode from sticking to the work.
According to the Synchrowave 200 Manual, Dig Control is initiated when Stick is selected. Percentages of Dig vary from 0 to 100%. When set at zero, the Dig current will provide no additional short-circuit amperage at low arc voltage. This would be similar to a standard stick machine with no Dig.
Increasing the Dig percentage increases the short-circuit amperage at low arc voltages to help start and maintain an arc and prevent the electrode from sticking to the workpiece.
The manual shows suggested settings for different rods. For example:
For celulose electrodes (6010, 6011) use a Dig setting of 50 to 80%.
For Low hydrogen electrodes such as 7018, they recommend 25 to 35%.
For other electrodes, they suggest using enough percentage to keep electrodes from stickng.
I just got my used Synchrowave this week and haven't yet fired it up due to the need for a new socket to plug it in and a minor failure in my cooling circulator. I will get it going this coming week and I'll try the Dig, square wave balance and pulse for the first time.
Hope you like your machine.

I just wanted to make sure nobody got the wrong idea about what I said about the syncrowave 200 I have. I was joking about the rod sticking. I mean I wasn't joking about not being able to stick the rod, that was the truth. I was very impressed with the dig control. The only rods I could find when I hooked it up were some 7014 rods that were 5 or 6 years old and had not been kept in a rod oven, but lying loose on a shelf in my storage building. I must have burned up a pound of rods and not once did any stick, even when welding with AC.
I just wanted to make sure nobody got the wrong impression about the syncro 200. It is a great welder in my opinion. Now if I can just get the stack with all dimes

I bought a 200 about three weeks ago. Ive been fiddling and futsing since then but it does a great job. The machine has four hours on it (3 of which are from me- my very first TIG experience. ) and so far ive stuck everything together... except wood and titanium!
BUT... I found a flaw or a malfunction. I dont know which. So check your machine too. Maybe someone goofed. My hour counter works as it should. The machine has four hours on it. The cycle timer is pooched. It seems to reset to zero every one hundred cycles. Everytime you strike an arc, that is one cycle. I know ive struck more than 67 arcs in the last four hours!! check you machine. When its getting close to 100 cycles, do the "press process and pulse buttons and turn on " routine as described on page 23 of the owners manual. Count your time and cycles. Weld until you pass one hundred strikes and go check to see if it counts 100 plus or has reset to single digit value.
I'm not so sure about the pulse feature . I can see myself going into an epileptic fit as the arc back lites the room and it comes in behind the mask! reminds me of some sort of scifi effect one would see in a cheap 1960's space movie!
Whats up with a stack of dimes....? Duh i dont get it....
Will it weld? I loooove electricity!

I was reading what the machine comes with and noticed that the machine comes with a 150A torch. Thats fine but this is a 200A machine. Does this mean i can only weld up to 150A with this setup?
Ive got the same machine, I havent cranked it yet, but maybe some day.
the rule of thumb is about an amp per thousands on an inch of material thickness. I am using aluminum as the standard. the same rule loosely applies to the electrode. A 1/8th(0.125") is good for about 100-150 amps in all but DCEP. the torch will accept a 5/32' electrode too.
rattle rattel rattle.. hehehehehe.....
This machine has done everything i have put to it so far. Ive done 1/4' aluminum no problem and 1/8 steel too.
Will it weld? I loooove electricity!
