  • Pardon my manors...

I just registered to the site a few days ago and have posted a few times already and I should have done an introduction for my first post....sorry.

My name is Rich and I am a welding supply sales technician for Jackson Welding Supply in Rochester, NY. I have been with JWS for 23 years starting out making up orders for customers, then work the counter, to working the phones and eventually graduating to an outside sales tech.

Previous welding experience at Frink Snow Plows in Clayton, NY (where I grew up), NY Airbrake in Watertown, NY, Uniweld and Associated Tool in Rochester, NY. Then I ran my own part time weld shop out of my home for about 4 years about 18 years ago.

Looks like a great group of people here. I look forward to reading your posts. Thanks.

i'm all the way out in Mt.Morris so i don't get out to your store to often. i try-ed to get gas threw the Jackson fokes but they would not take my tanks. so now i do most of my welding shopping at mahany's in rochester. they are the only one that would deal with my privately owned tanks, a 125 & 80. kind of silly really but hey what can ya do?? it would seem as long as there is no name on the ring and the test is in service any one would fill them.?? but it seems every one is nut's about my tank's only?? must be a want the rental thing ??
any how i know you don't have any control over that so don't think i am complaining at you about it. welcome to the board its a great place to hang out and pick up some tip's.

you should push corporate to cary the miller gloves though.
          thanks for the help

I hear ya on the cylinders. We have quite a few people out in the Batavia area that own their own cylinders. Thats a long way to go to get gas, unless you work up that way. Have you tried the folks at 4 Corners Weld Supply...or something like that. I think they are out near Castile.

We used to take customer owned cylinders on a maintenance basis a while ago. But because the cylinders are exchanged we end up with the customers cylinder and occasionally cylinder's won't pass hydro test and we are left with a cylinder that we can not use...and we now have to pay to dispose of it. You wouldn't think that it would amount to all that much, but you would be surprised.

I agree with the Miller gloves....I have a pair of the Tigster's...nice glove.

i had to pay to hydro test my Co2 tank but my C-25 and argon tanks both had new date stamps on them, like within a year from test. i can see how getting stuck with bad tanks could be a bummer. you could always just charge a hydro and make them test befor giveing out a new one.
any how where is this 4 corners welding??
