can anyone help me with a drawing,picture,idea etc how to build a bump gate.you just push it with your bumper and it open allowing enough time to drive in and it closes behind you. thanks

I don't have pics but I made one years ago used shocks off a ford hachback
from the junk yard 3 on each side from what I can recall."worked pritty good"

by the way I did have to lengthin the bars about 4' on each one the gate was a
two peace deal open from the center.Used old tires so I did not damg.the gate

The only place i have seen those gates is on the kleberg and Kennedy county ranches. They showed one on Tv when they were reporting on the vice pres hunting accident.

Fencing and gates video shows a couple of these I believe. If you call them they can tell you how many gates like this there are. I don't know what the price of the videos is though. They used to be quite expensive. My brother in law used to tape the show for me and send me the tapes before satelite TV existed because the show was only a western Canada production. I ordered one inventions video bach in the early 90's and I thought it was expensive then.

Hi everybody,Here are some drawings of a bumping gate.I hope you can
understand them, I'am not very good at drawing.
I have seen quite a few of them and this is the way they look.
The trick is on the cable or chain you use.It puts tension on it.
When you bump it and drive thru the chain will bring it back.
On the center of the gate you can put oakwood or treated wood that way
you wont damage your vehicle.

What part are you unsure of ? Where is this going to be built in shop then transported or on site and erected in place. I'v seen many ideas work just get ready for some heavy lifting. And remember this is one place that the use of thin wall pipe is not recomended due to twisting and bending over time.
