Has anyone here been asked to do a sketch from the building inspector?

    Doing an addition?

Check with the city and see what they need as far as minimums. I'm doing an addition right now and they didn't need much other than where the structure was going and how big it would be, then a simple scale drawing of the studs and trusses along with what the slab would be (which was already outlined in my bid). You can get the drawings from Home Depot for free (and they'll include a materials list and pricing too).

Be sure to get a permit - city inspectors are like god; they really have no one to report to and if you piss them off, it'll make your life very difficult.

    XR Control and 30A

    Airco MED20 feeder
    Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 81
    Smith O/A rig
And more machinery than you can shake a 7018 rod at

I found that out already, i'm doing a full upgrade on a fire escape for a school. All the demensions and hights of the upgrades was on the plan, and now he wants some sketches, this is the first time dealing with a city inspector. I tried asking what he wants on the sketch but I got no responce. I'm not a drafter.

Sounds like he wants an architecual drawing. Showing the side of the building with the fire escape.
Building departments general want a blue print drawing and drawing of the building exposure to make sure it is also architecually appealing. We don't want to upset the sensitive people, their fragel and have nothing better to do than complain about other people
