  • New mig welders?

I think they look cool and all but that was to me something that took time and practice to learn. Yes mig welding may be as easy as one two three but at least you actually had to learn how to properly set it up what everything ment and the gas type etc. To me welding was something that you have to learn and study before you are considered good but now to me the new miller migs are sort of taking the pride away of "knowing" your machine at least in my eyes. I'm not trying to make them seem horrible, Heck the new millers are about the only welder I could get that will work with my power socket. But if you know what I mean Id like to know your thoughts on this topic.
Thanks for reading I hope my post helped

they realy have not changed that much. my MM135 is 6+ years old and the door has a setup chart in it to tell me what to set it at (not that i use it but its there) add to that the WST and heck its a no brainer. all they did was put the door chart onto the fron gages insted of #'s.
you still need proper fit up and teckneak to get a decent weld though, no matter what yoiu set it at.
    thanks for the help

Gizmo's have been added but nothing really has changed, you will find a voltage and wire feed ajustments on any mig machine, even the earliest (taps, but still voltage ajustment)

seems like more amd more the world is starting to cater to the stupid, give them simple instructuions, and always warn them to the point of stupidity.
look at the order screens at McDonalds, now its just push the picture of the item orderd, tonight at target i wached the computer screen show the cashear how to insert the check into the cash regester. they had a video showing her how to do it ???? when is the last time some one behind a cash regester could actualy count you your change if you gave then a few pennys to get back an even quarter or dime they look at you like you are the stupid one. scary realy, but look at all the new laws being passed to protect us from our selves. just think about it, we as a nation are getting stupider every day wile the others are getting smarter, soon we will all be fat stupid fools playing video games wanting some one else to give us every thing.
          thanks for the help

It does seem like new stuff takes more and more of the thought process out of everyday life. I used to think that migs took the skill and art out of welding but really, while its true that practically anyone can mig weld, being a welder is far more than pouring ckickensh!t on steel. The idea, design, and the putting into motion all has to come first and to me, that is what separates the skilled tradespeople from the people who call them for help. Migs and any new technology simply makes it easier for us to do our jobs (even if we lose brain function in the doing) On a larger scale of stupidity, what ever happened to good old fashioned common sense. DON'T STICK YOUR FINGER ANYWHERE YOU WOULDN'T STICK YOUR D#CK !
