Here is some food for thought,,, the jails are full of those who drink and swear, the churches are full of those who dont.
Yeah but leading the group at the church is probably some guy that likes to bugger little boy's.
If money is the root of all evil why do the churches what more of it????

My Dad has run a church for over 30 yrs. and is nothing like that.
Let's face it. Churches, like anything else cost money to run.
No I'm not judging anybody, because I've done more than my share of drinking and swearing.
Oh yeah, if that really works, that's a **** of an idea for a tig welder.

Are you suggesting that churches are full of liars and thieves, and that prisons are full of rightously innocent people?
Just a quote from one of the best American leaders of all time. We could use a guy like him in office today. Dont think we would be paying $3.65 a gallon for gas. And I dont think people would be flying planes into our buildings. We could dig him up, prop him in his old chair in the oval office, let him run the country & have more respect than we have had with the last two guys. .o2
Ya. I dont think its going to be putting Miller or Lincoln out on the street anytime soon. Think Im going to rig my Jeep up with it for roadside repairs. Maby my van too.

wasn't it "the church" of 2000 years ago (the pharisees & sadducees) that condemned jesus to die? so it's possible for churches to be less than shining examples of moral perfection, although many do quite well.

I never said anything about perfection. Nothing is perfect and anybody that says different is obviously lying through their teeth. But Mike has a point. This board is for welding discussions. I apologize for helping to get off the subject.
Where do I sit to pedal this baby to get 'er welding. That is one creative fella,,,, however dangerous it looks. I'll watch from a distance and be sure that I am standing on something that is non conductive.
I had a gas powered stick welder that was built like this. It was a commercial unit rated at 130 amps (that's funny that's what a chevy alternator is rated for)
It worked great till I over loaded it and killed the alternator.
It was cool though if it just had a bigger alternator.
Zena makes a nice one that mounts under your hood. but it costs a fortune.

that alternator is only rate at 130 A at 12-14 volts.. thats the problem.
you have to look at things in another light... that would be power. How much power can you make from something that alternator is only making about 1700 Watts. 130Ax13volts=1690W. Thats not much when you consider that a 251 is puting like 25kW my calcutlation is very rough. I made no account for apparent power, VA or VARS. I calculated as if this alt was a purely resistive cct. So power actually my be less. anyway blah lash blah...
