  • Weld Pool

What determines the size of the (aluminum) weld pool? Reason I ask, I was over getting some welding pointers where we were using a Millermatic 251 and when I tried at home using a DVI the weld pool was substantially smaller.

more heat bigger pool. well thats the short answer. with MIG you start getting into travel speed and wire feed rates as well but it realy boils down to heat.
how thick is the matereal you are using?? that migh help some one get you a good setting starter point.
i have only done aluminum in TIG so i cant help too much with MIG.
    thanks for the help
    ......or..........
    hope i helped

Today, I tried my DVI using 220V outlet....huge difference (from 110V). Using 220v is my answer to my weld pool size.

      Thanks,
