      Terry,
Nice looking job !!! What did you use to cut the drum out with? We tried a plasma cutter at school, just as bad as an oxy torch. Got much better with a cutoff wheel on a grinder following it with masking tape to keep a straight line.
Looks like you made a lip on the inside of the door opening also?
      thanks for the pics, bert

we used a jig saw to cut the barrel.had to put a 1 1/2 strap no inside for the door. not much welding done on it. just the legs. he didnt want to spend to much on it didnt know it would work.it has a grill garte 2in down from the top to hang deer sausage on. he use it lastnight and the turn out realey good. i got a roll. thanks for looking and the reply.

How'd you clean the inside? I've been looking for a tank for a smoker with no luck so far. I'm too chicken to cut into a propane tank and the only compressor tanks I've found are too expensive. A guy around the corner has drums that had die lube in them and I've been wondering if they could be cleaned enough to be safe?

i not sure how the guy cleaned the durm. as far as the LP tanks i have two 500gal tanks that i have two cut in 1/2 for cattle feeders. the guy im doing this for took the plugs out about two weeks ago. and blowed air in them. the tanks are old 200 psi tanks.i think it has aired out enouth.i cant smell LP in them.be safe. thanks for looking and the reply.

Look at construction sites. there were a bunch of barrels at my worksite that aluminum and some metal came in (washers, nuts, bolts, etc). Also I used to pick some up that had laundry soap in them (worst case scenario=deer meat comes out smelling like Tide the first time you use it ?)
Hope you find some clean ones...
