a few aluminum TIG welds for ya

be gentel i'm still lerning this is only my 2nd tanks of gas with the TIG torch.
this is all done with a 3/32" 2% lanthanated at an amp setting of 97 with foot control and a standerd #17 torch no gas lense and 3/32" 4XXX filler.

the first one (cart 002) is a 1/16" thick 1"X1" square tube on a 1/8" thick 4"U plate about 35" long.
2nd & 3rd (004 & 018 are both 1/16" X1"squre tube to 1/16" X 1" square tube.
2nd shows the weld 3rd is the same weld cut in 1/2 acrost.

i probly should have used switched out to a 1/16" tungsten for the 2nd 2 but i was running late and just wanted to get some thing to pop a few pic's of and the torch was ready.
for a beginer i'm realy happy with the progress, i may not be up to par with some of you but i think i'm off to a good star. i just gotta work on getting it all even and pretty, they are all verry solid welds.

for those not fallowing it this is what the welds are going on or making however you want to look at it. its almost finished. this is just a test fit.

They are even better in person I'm sure.....digital camera's seem to make welds show defects easier. I've made welds that looked great, but on camera showed every little microscopic defect with amazing clarity.

well i have defenetly improved due to the TIG cart project. they do look a little better in person it seems like a pic eather shows nothing or makes it look like stuff is there that isent. oh well what ya gunna do?? i'm realy pleasd with the progress.

not to shabby but i would turn up the amps. i set my machine too 200 and use the foot petal for the rest.

I learned to TIG Aluminum, and my beads come out MUCH better than that!
Hee Hee.....ok, maybe all I did were flat beads, WEREN'T nicer than his, but didn't he do a trailer project for his "1st real project?" Darn thing made me sick!!! (Ok......TOTALLY JEALOUS!!!) Anyway, fun4now, thanks for the inspiration and pretty soon, at your speed, you'll be welding/tigging as well you you want/expect to. I'll probably be getting my Dynasty 200 in 2 months if my truck doesn't break down and all that money goes to repairs...

man i wish that was my trailor. i could shore use it. i just built a TIG cart out of aluminum, that was a fun project and one heck of a lerning tool.
and its true i was a little low on the amps, but hey i'm getting there. although not all are the prityest, they are all solid. so thats step 1 down.
