At home I have a old Miller thunderbolt AC welder I have read articals on adding diodes to a AC machine so it will run DC also ...wouldn't it be nice if someone made a "upgrade kit " for us with all the parts ... of course that might take away from new machine sales so probbaly won't happen.

Your absolutely right. If there was a conversion kit offered, it would probably cost more than a brand new Thunderbolt AC/DC unit. Sucks. I wish my ac tig machine was cv as well. Then I wouldn't have to have a separate wire machine.
