Where to purchase an Ellis 1800

I've just about finished saving my pennies for an Ellis saw. Not it's time to start looking for someplace to buy it from. 1800 is the model I've picked out (thanks to all the feedback here).

I haven't really looked much yet. There are a couple of ebay sellers in the $3295 range with free shipping. I'd like to the LWS route if I can find a good price.

buying one for my 1800 too. Im told its $200.

I bought an 1800 about 2 yrs. ago, and my lws had as good of a price as any of the internet sellers, and had the saw the next day. I try to buy local if I can, and the lws usually gives me a good price.

I use a version, shop built, of the air kit. It doesn't offer the selenoid, but a cheap brass valve can handle that all day without problem. I wouldn't really call this a cool air kit...as in a cool gun system used on some machine tools. It is more just for the added removal of previously cut metal chips that the wire brush may not have flushed from the blade gullets. I"m certain that there is some cooling action taking place, but most of the benefit from the adaption is from the higher swarf removal rate. Even with the purchase of a selenoid, I would think it would be far cheaper than spending the added $200 somebody quoted for this accessory.

Yes air helps

I added air to my JET and it cools the blade perfectly. I have extended the life of my blade and roler guides, etc. No clean-up. The blade lasts alot longer. I cut alot of stainless steel .

What about the mist coolers? I have them on both my lathe and mill. You can set the mist so that it doesn't leave hardly any residue or moisture. In fact, you can cut the coolant off completely so you just have air. They are common in the machining industry.
