I recently picked up a bunch of airtools at a garage sale. Some of them have a 1/4" male NPS fitting on them. I cannot for the life of me find any hardware store that carries any NPS stuff that I can use to rig up an air hose to. I know you're not supposed to use NPT and NPS together, but would it work well enough?

NPS = National Pipe Straight
Straight threads as opposed to NPT which are tapered and seal with an interference fit. Use teflon tape to seal NPS threads.
Your 1/4" threads are 1/4" x 18.
Home Depot, Lowes, or any of the big box stores will have plenty of choices for NPS air fittings. Check the air tool section.

Just be carefull when starting the threads. It's really easy to cross-thread a fitting when you try to start tapered threads in a straight-thread fitting. Teflon tape or dope is needed, though.
