      hardsurfacing

We have had the best luck with UTP 711B rod. Goes on like spreading butter & get good wear results.

I have an inventory of various McKay Rods. Some are not quite the 'right thing', but I bought out the inventory of a weldindg supply house which was stuck with an inventory that they used to sell to sawmills for hardfacing before the enviros killed the sawmills.

In looking at the descriptions you find some of the hardfacing for 'abrasion', some balanced for 'impact' and some rated for 'high temperature'.

I touched up a bucket the other day with a tube of 3/16's stuff. I set the amperage off the tube instructions at I think 210 amps and moved along
fairly quickly which produces a fairly wide and flat bead.

IT is my observation that if you end up with a bead that looks like an earthworm glued to the bucket---that those tend to get knocked off
        in the high wear areas.
