I bought this yesterday at a friends auction. Don't know to much about it.
The guy guaranteed it would run fine. I had to buy a battery and $5.00 worth of gas (1.6) gal. By a stroke of noise it started up after a half turn.
It's 225/ac 210/dc and 6,000 watt gen. Total $110.00.I don't have cables yet, I don't want to modify the one's from the 180sd. It runs my grinders so
far.

Looks like you got a great find there. Heck it would be hard to find a used genset for that price. If it arcs OK you got a plum.

it is common for older welders to not bring much at an auction.---profoundly so when that have as much cosmetic damage as this one.

Maybe someone can explain something that I just don't understand---why do so many older welders look like 'road kill'.

Those older one lungers do last and are easy to repair if broken sweet deal

See my reply on Hobart. All depend upon what engine you have. Some manufacturers made different tanks for this type application. Should be available from a good small engine shop.

You could make one....A piece of 10-12" tubing & weld some ends & fittings in it?
BTW your new project is lookin good , & as for the "incorrect" badgeing...as Coalsmoke says "they all wanna be..."

you know if you were to use a few cans of krylon blue that shore would look a lot nicer, and the other welders wouldn't tease it so much about having to be sitting next to it. something just not right about a Miller sticker on a big RED box, you should at least paint it blue first.
as for a gas can i think i would just fire up that syn180 of yours nd make one.

oh ya great find, heck even if it doesn't weld the generator part alone is well worth it.
