Ive never needed over 300 amps for the welding i do, so im happy with what i have. (It took 20yrs to get where im at now). Now if i just could figure out how to get 15 miles a gallon out of my truck, it has the 502 cubic inch engine.
Understand where your coming from.If I could help with the gas mileage thing I might be able to quit working for a living.LOL

      • Stickrod if I may ask, where abouts are you at? You mentioned about the natural gas rigs and there being work for rig chasers, just wondering where that's at.

Yes, but I wouldn't reccommend them to anyone. fifty feet of them is about as much as a man can drag. Also we spliced a 'stinger pigtail' of smaller conductor on the end so you arm didn't fall off tying to hold up the stinger.

You would need cruise control on your welding rig to make it there.

                      • Guys, I can't believe the low gas mileage all are getting. My F150 with 2000# in the bed gets 24MPG

                        12 in town

                        12 on the highway

                        • That makes me feel great. I've got a 460 under the hood and I use it from every stop light; I'm not exactly a fuel-mileage driver. And I still get 10 in town and 11 on the highway (when I remember that I have cruise control...)

it doesn't get much farther than that, it would be a trans-continental commute, 2975miles and about 48 hours of pure driving. I got cruise control, see you in about 3 days

BTW, fuel bill would calculate to $805 cdn. ouch

No, good old Pennsylvania. This part of PA is somewhat topographically close to what you have. The birthplace of the oil industry is not to far and we have a pretty good selection of hardwoods.Hardwoods have been going fairly good for a number of years here.Since the price of oil and natural gas have skyrocketed drilling here is going like gangbusters.Drilling companies are now booked at least 18 months out(havn`t seen that here in a long time). They are also resurrecting there old wore out rigs to keep up with demand for drilling. Most not all the wells they are drilling are good producer`s but they are not bringing them online. So when that happens there will be some work coming from that phase of it.

                              • PrecisionWorks,

What size steel is your Gentry Crane made out of? It looks great. I have been wanting to build one of those for getting my antique tractor engines in and out.
