    SMT,

      JTMcC,

How do you brake the reels - meaning how do you keep them from unwinding while driving down the road?

One more question. I can see how the connections are done for the welding leads and AC extension cord, but how are the connections done for the acet/oxy reel?

        OK,ok!!

JT...........you are right............I need to get my butt in gear; wash "Henry" (Ford) up and get some pics posted. I really took a cooler on posting pics online a little while back.............there was a feller scooping all the pics he could and assembling them on a Yahoo site. I'm still not sure how I feel about that.............guess I need to get over stage fright and embrace the age of the www.

For what its worth, I always found it to be a bit of a compliment if anyone wanted to keep a copy of what my rig looks like. Sometimes its neat to see pictures of your stuff pop up here and there, as long as its not being plagerized.

I built the oxy/acy and 120v/ditch box spools this year and they are just a pipe on a pipe so they have some (intended) built in drag, they stay wherever I stop them but they spool out smooth and spool up fast.
The welding lead spools I made a long time ago and they have bearings (I wouldn't do that again) so no drag, they will run away easily. On the two trucks they were on previously I just hung the stinger and ground on a rod and they never ran out unexpectedly. On this truck I mounted them low enough to the deck that the last loops of lead drag lightly on the deck , that's enough to not run out plus it makes the leads hard to steal.
The oxy/acy spool has quick connects on the side.

            JTMcC.
Some days you eat the bear. And some days the bear eats you.

Shield Arc, come out from hiding

Hey Shield Arc, you should post up an picture of your truck. I sure like the way you have it set up with the big lincoln and the smaller ranger (or similar, sorry, my memory is a little bit unclear). Other than the extra weight, it looks to be the best of both worlds.

its no big conspiracy, all he was doing was gathering neat welding photos, wether it be of rigs, trailers, neat ways to set up shops, projects that people have done, etc. and put them on a decently well organized website so that people can chekc them out when they want to without having to find the original threads. Its a great way to ge the creative juices flowing, in my opinion. various forums have this kind of picture gallery, just not really many of the welding forums have it for some reason, so he took the initiative to do one up.
