I think I finally have got the picture figured out.Not as fancy as some but it gets the job done for now.I`m in the process of adding some more goodies to it,like it ever ends.I`ll work on some more pics as I add stuff.

looks like they are changing over to the hobart form ?? just addes a lot of extra junk to the setup, it was simpler befor. i hope this dosent mean pic's will start apearing in the post insted of attached to it.

Did you make rotating contacts, or are you using Tweco connectors?

If you look close in the second picture you can see the tweco connection coming straight out from the hub.
The last thing I need is a complicated energized hub to shell out in the middle of a job. Plain, simple, reliable, parts available everywhere, and easily repaired in the field,those are pretty high on my list of requirements.
I've had those spools on three trucks now. I've thought several times about making a set of regular lead racks just to take one connection out of each lead and to allow for loose wraps. Ideally in my work you have solid lead from the machine to the stinger (with a smashed connection at the whip). But I keep a close eye on all of the connections and when they show the first sign of heating up a bit they either get adjusted to lock up tighter of get replaced.
I spool off all of the lead for (what's to me) steady welding at higher amps, such as 3/16" LoHi all day or running flux core in the 220-250 amp range.
They will deal with 3/16" 70+ fine while spooled up, I can warm them up filling & capping full throttle (say 50 lbs./day) all day tho.
So I keep saying I'm going to take them off but never have. Theres no faster way to spool up 250' of lead. But, I really do think I'm going to build those regular racks this year, and move the oxy/acy reel and the 120volt/ditch box reel to right behind the drivers side box facing backwards.

I agree with you James.Not sure why they would want to mess with what seems to everyone a good set-up.Hopefully it will stay the way it is.Anyone else having trouble logging out?Sorry to hi-jack this thread,but with over 1600 hits someone is watching.Might be a good idea to start a new thread on this.

Sure like the way your rig is set-up.Nice reels.I was going to do something along those lines but don`t have enough room for all the goodies we need to carry.Sooooo I`m going with a simple lead wrap deal.I`m thinking it will take up minimum space and will work good for my situation.

I have been wrapping both leads together on one hanger to make it quicker and more compact, but I keep thinking there is something better.
Since the ranger has no polarity switch, I have crimp ends connected to the machine and twecos on the end of the leads. That way I can switch stinger, feeder, etc. on the end with only one connection in the cables.
