My New Toy

I got all the stuff I need to install the new electric line from the electric panel. The other items (wire, cover, tips, etc) will not be here probably until next week

I think it is harder now seeing the machine out in the garage and knowing I can't use it.

Thank you all. My wife works at a shop that does metal stamping (see works in customer service) and I asked her if she could see if her company had any scrap pieces of metal that I could have to practice on since I am new.

She came home yesterday with (50) 6"x6"x1/8" pieces of steel

I will probably cut some of them up to try different welds. That should keep me busy for a little while.

i am jealous

i can't wait to get mine ordered. been trying to find a used one but just said to heck with and will order a new one from quimby's next week. i guess the 210 is like a nice used toyota truck....people who have them love em and don't want to get rid of them. nice to see someone esle has found a use for those big washing detergent bottles. i put old oil in them to take to the recycling place.

I tell my wife all the time "Do not throw out the detergent jugs". 1/2 the time she remembers.

Nah, it is an 80CF tank. Prices here in NJ are crazy! Oh well, sometimes you have to pay to play, and I can't wait to start playin!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I would feel guilty practiceing on 6x6 peices, I would save them for something and probably never use them for anything becouse they would always be just a little to small.

Darn, I have to sell my 4 year old MM 210 and get me an new unit. the newer 210's just look cooler, then my older unit.

That 80 CF cylinder will be fine, that's all I have on mine, and I get quite a bit of weld time in on a bottle.

1/8" practice metal to start on, cool. If you have .030 wire coming, which I think you do , right from the start your going to see a very sweet short circuit transfer arc. Just make sure the base metal is bright and shiny or you won t see the real sweet arc.

naaaa i build stuff with lil stuff all the time, heck i built this with 4"X4"X4" triangels (art2) and just finished cutting 60 more 2"X2"X2" to add to it.still not shoure what it will be when its done , but it will be artsy and verry cool looking.
