    PS. Nice table!
Just old nylon carpet, the horses are left over from when I had my upholstery business. I can't in all honesty recommend it ... stinks bad (but won't burn with a flame) when hot slag gets on it. That was part of the motivation to build a table, or course I have been using those horses for 3 years now so they did work. They will get rebuilt and a new carpet installed on them for normal use, I built them in 1982 so we have a history and I almost never throw anything away.

Pictures are not very good but you can get an idea. I ended up using a 25 grit Norton grinding wheel for the first pass to remove the mill scale, then a norton 30ยบ, 36 grit flap disk, then 36 grit sait sanding disk, then a 60 grit sait sanding disk, then a 120 grit HF flat, flap disk, then hand rubbed with scotch Brite pad to dull it up some.

        George,

        Sweet!

Now, ya gotta mount onea them propane weed burners underneath, fire it up, slather the top down with some Canola oil, and Voila! Pancake feed for the 'hood!

Are you going to drill and tap a few strategically placed holes for clamp bolts?

I have been needing an excuse for getting a weed burner anyway, besides the Hood around here thinks I am strange because I am working outside and in the garage all the time, they think that a garage is to park cars in bit too uptity around here for my liking but I can't move to the hills cuz of the kids schools. Don't know about the holes yet, but I guess if I did some and ended up not liking them I could just weld them up and grind them off ... boy, I like metal

Oh now you have gone and done it Hank. Next George will be giving us a review of his new Milwaukee or Hougen magnetic drill press that he uses to drill those holes. Them holes could also do double duty as drains for all that earl.

Think I must be onea them 'gourmands'. Talk about food just gets me hoppin'. Down in George's neighborhood, the Southwestern style Mexican food is KILLER! I fell in love with Albuqureqe machaca when I worked down there in the 90's. Never had none better! Tried to get my job extended in Chicago 'cause of the Polish food in the 80's. Spent 16 weeks in Nebraska (Omaha) in the 70's and od'd on beef! AND, I lived in New Jersey, the home of the absolute best tomato pie (Pizza to the uninformed) on earth!

Now, I'm stuck out here on the left coast, where there is NO really good beef, Italian sausage, imported Provolone, kielbasa, Italian bread (they call it French bread here!), Jewish rye, corned beef, ahhhhhhhh.....I hunger for the days when I lived east of the Miississippi!

                    Hi George.....
Great job.....I really like the way it turned out.
I purchased the last of the material this week to build one myself. I emailed and have been chatting with Unixadm (David) as I basically wanted to copy his design on the one he recently finished. I still plan on doing that, however, looking at yours, I may add some additional modifications to my plans a little bit, especially for the lower section.
I am just finishing up a plasma/TIG cart this weekend. I only have a little bit of fabbing left to do, then I'm going to sand blast it and put a cheap coat of paint on it for now. I'm planning on taking a corner of my shop and setting up a small powdercoat operation at which time I'll clean the cheap paint back off and replace it with powdercoat once I"ve got that up and running. For my welding table though, I'm going to have to paint the lower frame and sections and try to keep the table top clean and oiled. We get so much humidity here, it would rust in no time if I left it all bare. The top is going to be difficult enough as it is.
Again, great job....thanks for sharing and inspiring some ideas.

I hate to tell you this, but the wife and I went to Garcia's for lunch and had some of those breakfest burrito's with green chili, extra hot, you bet ... if you are nice I will send you some fresh green chili the next harvest so's you can spice up that bland CA food.

Thanks for the kind words, we will need photos of the cart and then the table when you get it done. Also I would like to know what size oven you need to power coat a tig cart, or is there another way to cure the paint? Powder coating seems a great deal to me but they wanted to charge me $100 to do a small project, something about the cost to fire up the oven, so I didn't do it.
