I'd get a parts engine with compatible valves if you could get one cheaply, pull it apart, and swap all parts related to the damaged valve. The link I gave to the valve kit above shows a whole lot of models will have all the parts you need. The pushrod should be fine, as should the piston and conrod, since the valve was loose, not mashed into the piston by a timing issue. You could also buy a valve and all the parts on it if you can't get a cheap parts engine.

Getting in a little late here.....but I dropped a valve on an Onan engine a couple years ago, on a lot of these small engines the valve faces are parallel with the piston face. And after talking to the onan shop here, you can get away with it most times. Mine I just put new parts on the valve end and let er rip.
When that valve drops, if that’s what happened to yours, the engine won’t run long. So provided the surfaces are parallel, you could be in good shape. In my case, I believe my valve is just a tiny bit bent because you can sometimes hear the valve slapping the piston. Tappedity tappedity tappedity.....then it goes away.
Adjusting the valves on these small engines is something most overlook and probably one of the more important aspects of routine maintenance on them.
I’m interested to hear how it goes!

Okay. Picked up a bobcst 225 that has a good engine and is same type of model as my bobcat 250 and engine runs fine. I was thinking about just changing the head until I heard this. Even if it's the flywheel and magnets if I have to pull engine and generator may as well swap engines right?

Even if it is just the flywheel and magnets, the flywheel new is close to $300 and you'll likely have to replace the stator for around $180 as well. Its been a bit since I've had to do that, but I think those prices are close from the last go at it. I also recall having to wait for 'em every time I ordered them. A couple weeks to a month and a half I think. If you already have a good motor, I'd get after swapping them with the quickness. Additionally, you have at least one machine on wheels and I think I saw a hoist folded up in the background....that makes swapping way easier.

Got her running with a lot of help! Ended up getting a busted 225 machine and using its engine. Just have to figure our why it's not idling down. Idled down on the 225 machine. Auxiliary power is working will be testing if it welds this morning.
