  • Bobcat 225 Carburetor Linkage/Governor Issue

    Ser# LG023942
    Engine Onan/Robin EH65

    Hello All,
My welder had been setting for a while and would not run right, so I pulled the carb off and did a complete tear down and cleaned it really well. The machine now starts easy and runs great, Too great(Too high of RPM). Problem is I didn't take note of the linkage from governor arm to carb and I can't get it to set right. In the process(Messing with linkage) I took the governor loose and now everything is out of whack. Can one of you guys tell me how to set my governor back to factory, the steps to do so? Also Does anyone have a picture, or service manual showing which holes in the governor arm I should attach my linkage to. I have read on other post to measure the hertz to set engine RPM, which I have done, but getting the governor adjusted to those hertz is difficult while it is running, it takes very little movement in the governor to be extremely high RPM to way low RPM. Even when I do get it set close to the Correct RPM, the welder will bog down under full load(seems like it wants more fuel/Linkage adjustment) and not burn a 6011 5/32 rod correctly set on max. The engine will over rev with no load(Governor problem). I know, something as simple as cleaning a carb and I get it this screwed up, only I could do that. Any Help or service manuals to help walk me thru setting it back up to factory specs is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thank You In Advance

Look in your operator manual, it tells how to set the rpm’s.
maybe look in the parts manual also to see how it’s put together. I’ll look your manual on the Miller site.

      Thanks Kpack,
The major problem I have is that I loosened /Took off the governor arm where it attaches to the rod going into the block. I am having a hard time finding instructions on to to set/ reattach the arm in the correct place. I have been trying to get the hertz to 62 at WOT and tightening the linkage back at that spot, but very little movement while tightening the arm back makes it out of sync. I was trying to find the correct way to do this.

Get the number off the motor, we maybe able to find a service manual for that motor.

          Kpack,
I know it is a Onan/Robin EH65, if there is a serial# that you need then I'll have to look around on the engine somewhere, but most of it is covered with side panels ect..
          Thank You for your Help,

This may help, it’s a Robin Subaru EH65 manual. It tells how to set the governor.

                Hello Kpack,
I appreciate the manual. I read the part about setting the governor and will try that today. I havn't had time to to work on the welder for the last week.

Followed the manual and it worked like a champ, running like a top.
                  Thank You Kpack
