That’s good use of that 251, it’s a solid piece of gear.

Sounds like you do bit of everything there and you need some big equipment. I’ll be interested to hear how you manage to get that Hobart to work with the 251.

If the hobart has a foot pedal option, just ditch the shop master and run everything directly off it.

That’s what I was thinking. That Hf-251 is all the HF start and continuous he’ll need, provided that Hobart does AC. Seems like the engine drives are either DC only but have remote amperage control, or AC/DC without remote amperage control. At least the newer ones.

The hobart does ac/dc and cc/cv. I wired in the miller 14 pin plug and setup a contactor so I can hookup anything that uses the 14 pin and run it like a normal power source. I just need to modify my miller foot pedal to 'talk' to the hobart correctly to have proper amperage control. The 251 works great, never had issues with it.

I agree on the 251, it’s a robust piece of equipment for sure. I bet I could pull mine out from under the work bench and it’ll work just fine. I have the foot pedal for it too. Probably doesn’t help with whatever your Hobart needs.
